| Answers to Technical Questions |
What is the
minimum system requirement to take advantage of all of Sanford's
features?
- Latest version of Internet Explorer or
Netscape Navigator that support 128-bit encryption and Java.
- Access to internet through an Internet
Service Provider (ISP). Sanford has a direct connection to
the Telstra network and WA Internet Exchange (through IINET).
We recommend choosing an ISP connected to one of these networks.
A good place to start is the
Australian ISP list.
- 56K modem.

The internet
seems slow today. What's wrong and how can I speed things
up?
The internet is going through tremendous growth at the moment,
and large images, animations, and sound files can slow things
down. You should contact your Internet Service Provider and
ask them about the speed of their modems, the amount of bandwidth
they acquire, and how this affects you - also check the speed
of your own modem. Sanford Online has been specifically designed
using small, simple graphics to minimise download times.

I cannot access
the Sanford web page at work?
Users of Local Area Network (LAN) workstations in their working
enviroment may be restricted by their employer in what they
can view. Please check your employer's Internet policy. Otherwise,
check the web address you are typing. Make sure it is www.sanford.com.au/haoyah.
Alternatively, you can try our IP address of 202.8.96.5/haoyah.

I get a message
"Secure mode not operable - connection refused". What is happening
here?
This means that either (a) your browser is not capable of
SSL encryption; or (b) your internet access is restricted
and doesn't allow for SSL encryption. If you are using a firewall
for your own security, this may be restricting your access
by closing a port which Sanford requires for SSL encryption. If
this is the case you will need to open the TCP ports 434 &
443 on your firewall.

I'm concerned
about placing orders over the Internet. How safe is it?
We regard security as an integral part of our service which
has impacted on every level of our software development, systems
implementation and general business practices. We use SSL
encryption methods and maintain a number of additional precautions
- both automated and manual - to ensure the security and privacy
of all information exchanged between yourself and ourselves.
Encryption is the way we protect the privacy of communication
and data exchange between customers and Sanford Securities
Limited.

What does the SSN number represent under

The SSN stands for Sales Sequenced Number and is used by the
ASX (Australian Stock Exchange) as an internal tracking number
for all trades. This number is of use only to the ASX and
has no other function.

Why are some
emails I receive from Sanford Securities corrupted?
Some emails can become corrupted in transit from Sanford Securities
to your email address both through general internet interruptions
or download corruption that occurs when downloading the emails
from your ISP (Internet Service Provider). Some web based
email servers and older email programs use different encoding
protocol and thus have trouble distinguishing between the
main part of the email message and the attached text files
and as a result, data corruption can also occur. Please check
that your mail program has UUENCODE protocol.

How can I
be notified if my order has gone onto the market or has transacted?
From the Preferences*
section of the Account Services page, you may choose what
type of order confirmation you would like to receive. These
range from being notified when your order is placed onto the
market, when stock is booked to your order or when your order
has been fully transacted and a contract note has been generated.
These alerts can be sent out either via an automated email
message or an automated mobile SMS message .

What is a
PDF document and how can I read it?

Failing that, try restarting the computer and using the force
refresh method outlined above.
Otherwise, you might need to upgrade/fix problems in your
browser's java component, by using the following instructions:
Upgrade/fix problems in your browser's java component:

which can be found at:
www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/default.htm
