Longhua Temple
Longhua
Temple at 2853 Longhua Road is an ancient monastery in the
south of Yangtse River. According to legend, it was built
in the Three Kingdoms Period. (242 A.D.) It keeps the seven-hall
structure of the Buddhist "chan" sect. The "Longhua Evening
Bell" in the monastery is one of the eight scenic attractions
in Shanghai. The Longhua Pagoda standing opposite the monastery
is a structure of seven storeyes and octagonal in shape. This
elegant and exquisite pagoda is the relic of the Song Dynasty.
